Is there a full scholarship available at SNU?
Yes. For overseas students, Seoul University provides a number of fully funded scholarships. You are free to choose and apply to any of these programmes.
Graduate Scholarship for Outstanding International Students:
- It includes:
- Tuition fee: complete tuition exemption for up to four semesters
- Living expenses: 500,000 KRW each month (varies according on recipients' majors).
Scholarship for the Silk Road:
It addresses:
- Tuition charge: complete tuition fee exemption for up to four semesters.
- Monthly living expenses: a maximum of 600,000 KRW for four semesters.
- Airfare: 1 million KRW for one economy round-trip flight
- Fee waiver for Korean language study at the Language Education Institute
Scholarship from the Korean Government (KGSP)
It addresses:
- Tuition exemption for four semesters for master's programmes and six semesters for doctoral programmes.
- Monthly living expenses: 900,000 KRW
- One round-trip economy flight
- Fee for one year of Korean language instruction * Korean language training is required, and students who do not acquire TOPIK grade 3 within a year are not eligible to attend the degree programme.
- Medical insurance, research funds, thesis printing costs, settlement, and return costs

Eligibility Criteria:
- Parents and candidates must not be South Korean citizens.
- Candidates must have finished or be in possession of a Bachelor's Degree.
- For applying for a Ph.D. programme, applicants must have a Master's degree.
- Evidence of English Language Proficiency. (If you have already obtained a degree from an English medium institute, you may submit English proficiency from that institute).

- Two letters of recommendation from two distinct referees
- Authentic Bachelor's Degree Certificate and Transcript
- Authentic Master's Degree Certificate and Transcript (Applicable for applicants of Doctoral degree)
- Passport photocopy of the Applicant
- Additional Official Documents attesting to the Applicant's Nationality
- Copy of both parents' passports, showing both parents' nationality.
- Documentation demonstrating the Applicant's parent-child relationship with his or her parents.
