Global Korea Fully Funded Scholarship Program 2023-2024 Yonsei GSIS-NIIED Korea Scholarships


If you are an international student interested in pursuing a master's or doctorate degree at the Yonsei Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) in South Korea, you may be eligible for the Yonsei GSIS - NIIED Global Korea Scholarship Program. The Korean Ministry of Education funds this fully-funded fellowship to assist overseas students in their academic pursuits.
Yonsei GSIS: A Renowned International Studies Institution

Yonsei GSIS, founded in 1987, is Korea's first professional school dedicated only to international studies. Yonsei GSIS provides master's and doctorate degrees in a variety of fields. Scholarship Benefits

The Yonsei GSIS-NIIED Global Korea International Scholarship Program offers its recipients the following benefits:
  1. Flight ticket in economy class (actual expense)
  2. 200,000 KRW as a settlement allowance (once)
  3. (Master's/Doctorate) Monthly Allowance 1,000,000 KRW (Research) 1,500,000 KRW
  4. Medical Insurance: NIIED-set standard amount Korean Proficiency Grants: 100,000 KRW per month
  5. The research support fee is 210,000 KRW (L.S.) and 240,000 KRW (N.S.&E.).
  6. Fee for Language Training: 1) NIIED: 1 million KRW; 2) University: anything over 1 million KRW
  7. Tuition: 1) NIIED: up to 5 million KRW; 2) University: a sum greater than 5 million KRW; Entrance fee

Eligibility 

  1. Applicants must satisfy the following criteria to be eligible for the Yonsei GSIS-NIIED Global Korea International Scholarship Program:
  2. Both the applicant and their parents are not Korean nationals. By the application deadline, ethnic Koreans holding foreign citizenship must provide documentation establishing the renunciation of Korean citizenship for themselves and their parents, as well as documents proving the acquisition of nationality for themselves and their parents.
  3. A bachelor's degree or its equivalent (or higher) degree from an authorised institution or university is required for admission to the master's programme.
  4. A master's degree or its equivalent (or higher) degree from an approved institution or university is required for admission to the PhD programme.

Application Process 

To apply for the Yonsei GSIS-NIIED Global Korea International Scholarship Program, applicants must complete an online application. The following documents must be presented with the application:
  1. Personal Statement Study Plan GKS Application Form
  2. GKS Applicant Contract
  3. Apostilled or Korean Embassy Verified Personal Medical Evaluation Bachelor's Diploma or Graduation Certificate Apostille or Korean Embassy Verified Transcript of a Bachelor's Degree
  4. Original- Two Recommendation Letters
  5. Original- Language Proficiency Proof
  6. Copies of the applicant's passport and both parents' passports
  7. Evidence of Family Connection Agreement for Personal Data Collection and Usage Research Proposal
  8. Master's Thesis, Graduate Term Paper, or Published Works as Writing Example (min. 40 pages, English, print on one side of the paper only)
  9. Apostille or Korean Embassy Verified Master's Diploma or Graduation Certificate Apostille or Korean Embassy Verified Master's Diploma or Graduation Certificate.
