Data science has the potential to favourably influence the world in a variety of ways, particularly in terms of social welfare. We can detect and address challenges such as poverty, inequality, and environmental sustainability through data analysis. For example, data science may help in identifying the underlying causes of societal problems and developing solutions, such as examining crime data to avoid future events or studying healthcare data to improve patient outcomes. Furthermore, data science helps us to make educated decisions that benefit society, such as resource allocation optimisation or forecasting and minimising the consequences of natural disasters.
The Data for Good Scholarship is intended for students who are passionate about the transformational power of data in effecting positive change and improving people's lives throughout the world.
Degree Level: Hertie School, Germany, Fully Supported Data for Excellent Scholarship (Master) 2023-24. is accessible to pursue Master's level studies at Hertie School of Governance in Germany.

Scholarship Benefits: Up to five full scholarships of 36,500 euros each are available.
Eligible Nationalities: International students of all countries are welcome.
Eligibility Criteria: This scholarship is open to students who are interested in using data and data science to address societal issues and promote better informed policy-making.
Process for Application: First, submit a regular application to the MDS programme.
In addition, write an article describing one concrete example of how data may be utilised (or better used) to enhance policymaking. Be precise and explain why this scenario would benefit from improved data usage, what data you would use, how you would access/gather this data, how you would propose to utilise the data, and what potential hurdles you could face.
