Eligibility Criteria
Applicants for the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology Scholarship in Russia must satisfy the following requirements:
- International students must apply.
- Applicants must enrol in Master's and PhD programmes.
- Candidates must be prepared to study full-time at the institute.
- Candidates for the M.Sc. degree must begin their studies immediately. Admissions strategy 2023/24

- Candidates must provide proof of English competence.
- A relevant bachelor's or specialist degree, or its equivalent, from an approved university is required for Master's programmes.
- A relevant master's or specialist degree, or its equivalent, from an approved university is required for doctoral studies.
Successful applicants have often had prior education and experience in disciplines related to our programmes, such as:
- Informatics, computer science, computer engineering, computational mathematics, mathematics & applied mathematics, etc.
- Physics, specifically applied physics
- Chemical engineering and chemistry
- Biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, biophysics, bioinformatics, and systems biology are all examples of disciplines.
- Engineering and materials science
- Astrophysics, aerospace science and engineering
- Engineering mechanics
- Geophysics, geology, and geological engineering are all examples of petroleum and gas engineering.
Application Procedures
How to Apply: To be eligible for a Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology Scholarship in Russia, candidates must fill out and submit an online form called the Students Intelligent Application Form.
Applicants must present the following as part of the application process:
- Motivation letter Curriculum Vitae
- Evidence of English competence, such as the TOEFL or IELTS (students may submit an application without this information, but all will be asked to provide it at a later date)
- 2 letters of recommendation
- Proposal for research
- Transcripts from all higher education institutions attended, in English (and the original language). Copies will suffice during the application phase, but official copies must be produced afterwards.
- Optional: Graduate Record Examination outcomes (GRE)
- Applicants should designate the Skoltech faculty member(s) with whom they desire to undertake PhD studies as part of the admissions process. Before commencing the online application for each PhD Program, applicants should check the Skoltech faculty biographies and contact the faculty member (through e-mail).
