Applications are now open for the Asia Pacific University MEXT (UR) Scholarship 2025 in Japan. APU, which stands for Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, is a well-known private university often referred to as "Japan's global village" because of its highly international community. APU hosts students from over 100 countries.
International students can apply for scholarships for Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD programs at APU. The scholarships are fully funded by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT). Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an international student from a MEXT-designated country
- Must be a national of a MEXT-designated country
- Must be born on or after April 2, 1990
- Must have a GPA of at least 2.30 on a 3.00 scale
Who is Not Eligible?
- Military Status: Cannot be currently serving in the military or working as a civilian for the military.
- Arrival in Japan: Must be able to arrive in Japan during the designated arrival period specified by APU.
- Previous MEXT Scholarships: Must not have received a MEXT scholarship in the past, unless you have more than three years of educational research experience after the last payment of the previous scholarship.
- Concurrent MEXT Scholarships: You cannot apply for this scholarship if you are currently applying for another MEXT scholarship.
- Other Scholarships: Cannot receive financial support from any other scholarship organization while studying at APU.
- Visa Status: Must maintain a "student" visa status in Japan throughout the scholarship period.
- English Proficiency Test: Must submit scores from an English proficiency test taken on or after March 22, 2023.
English Language Proficiency Exemption
If you have completed your previous education at an institution where the language of instruction was English, you can submit an English Language Proficiency letter from that institution.
